High/Low Voltage Overlay

CASE STUDIES - HV/LV OVERLAY
Client: Northern Power
Grid Job Ref: Replacement of Faulty HV/LV Cable or upgrade Overlay Schemes
Duration: 1995 to present day ongoing works

Over the last twenty years the company as actively been involved with HV/LV overlay schematic works throughout the Yorkshire areas replacing faulty HV/LV Cables and upgrading the Current HV/LV Networks, Installing HV/LV Mains Cables in the Public Highway using Open cut Trenching Methods, and trenchless techniques where possible and permissible Moling Techniques are used to keep customer disruption to a minimum whilst our teams undertake the LV Service replacement works from the Recently installed LV Mains Cable located in the Footway to the Customers Electrical Meter Housing, typically 20/30mtr shots are achievable enabling the small 50mm Grundomatte mole to be launched from a launch pit in the Footway under the customer driveway/or maintained grassed areas to a receive pit. A 45mm Cable duct is pulled in situ at the rear of the mole as it moles under the driveway, once ducts are installed the service cable is pulled through the duct and terminated at the meter Housing, all LV jointing works are undertaken live, with a outage of 15/20 minutes to reconnect the LV supply to the Meter Housing, this keeps customer disruption to a absolute minimum.

Where possible open cut Rd Crossings are omitted, and a preferred trenchless technique used to install Multi Way ducts under traffic sensitive Junctions.

Typical schematic works carried out throughout 2015: Replace 25klm of LV Mains Cables and 5 klm of HV Mains Cables on housing estate in Doncaster, this involved all HV/LV Mains Cable replacement, including S/Light Cables, Customer Service Cables, we liased closely with all residents and received considerable praise from the local residents highways authority on time and in budget, testimonials to follow shortly
