Quality Management

Quality Control

We hold the ISO 9001 certification and all of our projects are implemented to this standard, which is based on a number of quality management principles.  These include a strong focus on the customer and relationship management, as well as the implementation of a processed approach, evidence based decision making and a commitment to continual improvement.   The  principles act as a foundation to guide our managers at all levels to establish unity of purpose and direction, so that all of our people are engaged in achieving our quality objectives.  This ensures the whole team is  competent, empowered and engaged throughout a project to deliver value for our clients .

Investing in Training and Development

The company makes substantial investment each year in industry-approved training programmes to ensure all our people are qualified and proficient in their day-to-day duties.    Staff training covers Plant Operation, Traffic Management, Health & Safety and First Aid.

The team also completes the following training courses:
  • Gas Transco Passport to Safety
  • National Grid Competent Persons
  • ESS SHORCO Confined Spaces
Additionally, all supervisors and operatives are registered on the Street Works Qualifications Register (SWQR), which holds details of all qualified individuals with appropriate training in relation to the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA).

The NRSWA ensures the installation, renewal, maintenance and inspection of underground apparatus in any street or road is undertaken by competent people.  It is a legal requirement for anyone working, or supervising excavation and reinstatement work activities on the highway to complete relevant training.

City & Guilds Training Standard

A Catlow Civil Engineering has an onsite approved training centre for the delivery of the City & Guilds Streetworks Excavation and Reinstatement Award Training Programme.  This comprehensive assessment is compliant with the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA).

The training site facilities were set up to deliver a high quality programme with excavation and reinstatement areas specifically designed to meet the criteria set by City and Guilds.  All Operatives and Supervisors have completed the appropriate training modules specific to their role and regularly complete refresher training onsite.
